I've always wanted a web site, but at the same time I never thought I had enough to say to warrant such an endeavor. However, schoolwork is just such a worthwhile endeavor, if only to complete an assignment. So far, in this semester, we've gone over 2 of 3 books, Internet Business Foundations and Site Development Foundations. Although most of the concepts discussed in Internet Business Foundations were familiar territory to me, it was good to learn a couple new things. For example, I was not familiar with the different types of FTP. Site Development Foundations was where I leaned a lot. I knew about the formats of html and xml, but I didn't know XHTML existed. I also learned quite a bit about forms. I didn't think they would be as easy to implement, and thought a lot of code would have to be written to create the single option select list, for example. Frames were a little difficult to understand, but I got mine going with my family page. It was the getting the page to go out of frames that took a bit of reverse engi-working. And most challenging of all is the php. Nitty-gritty, I used an image on the home page and included its corresponding alt tag. The site's base relies upon a table css, and php. The php works by server side scripting the html output. The server processes the php code and conjugates the html accordingly. I used php in my css, most specifically, to make for a more smooth, and uniform web page. My frame was used in my family page. I thought it would be a good use of the pictures we took of the newest member of our family, and her 0th birthday. Isn't she cute?!? One day, I'll get the blog started, and once I'm done reworking my résumé, there I'll have a pdf linked. |
